Compal to Increase Investment in China for Expanding Production Capacity

Compal's board of directors have approved on October 27, 2010 the investment plan of setting up a second production base in Chengdu, Sichuan Province of China, according to the China Times of Taiwan. Construction of the new plant is slated for the beginning of 2011, and mass production is scheduled for 2012, aiming to produce 10 million units of notebook PCs annually.

Meanwhile, Compal plans to invest US$40 million in its existing plant in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province of China. The investment is projected to expand the production capacity of notebook PCs, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, and related products. Compal estimates that LCD TV shipment volume in 2011 will reach eight million units, according to the same source.
